(Heb 12:28-2 9) “Therefore, we who are receiving the unshakeable kingdom, should have gratitude, with which we should offer worship pleasing to God in reverence and awe. For our God is a consuming fire.”
The liturgy is a good tutor. That is, it teaches us’ what is to be said, day by day, by the Christian soul, rather than leaving us mired in the bog of our own resources and feelings, so sadly inadequate as they are. The worship of the Church opens out for us what we ought to say rather than asking us what we feel like saying. (If Your Mind Wanders at Mass, p. 54.)
