The Liturgy of the Word:
(Remember the Church gave birth to the Scriptures and it is in the liturgy that they are most complete and “at home”. Also through out history few could read so the liturgy was complete with scripture it was the only time most would have exposure to it!) At mass, in a three-year cycle, we basically read through the entire Bible. (2 Tim 3:16-17) “All scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work”
Before the first reading
“Wisdom! Be attentive!” (from the Byzantine Rite) What is wisdom? Wisdom is seeing the world through God’s eyes, seeing the world as God sees it. So that we can be equipped for every Good work
