Now that we have heard the Word of God we stand and make our reply.
There is a relationship between scripture and dogma. Cardinal Ratzinger (the Cardinal in charge of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the faith) says “Dogma is by definition nothing other than an interpretation of Scripture...which has sprung from the faith over the centuries.”
Profession of Faith:
We profess what we believe in common. Usually the Nicene Creed (325 A.D.) It is the only creed accepted in common by the Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican and major Protestant Churches. It is a summary of what we believe as Christians. We should recite it with dignity and conviction and let it become a joyful proclamation of our unity of belief
Intercessions:
These are not so much personal intentions or requests but the petitions of the Church as the body of Christ. We do so as a priestly people with faith that our petitions are heard even as suffering and sins continue on earth. In this way we are close to Jesus, our head, who on the cross-offered Himself up without the answer being apparent. Likewise, the world still suffers and the Church still offers prayers at the altar.
We have been dealing with the Word and now the Mass continues with the Word made Flesh.
“I have greatly desired to eat this Passover with you...” (Lk 22:15)
